Impact Coaches
The Speed & Agility Program with 5th Quarter Sports is built to help children in grades K–5 establish a strong athletic foundation. Young athletes will develop fundamental movement patterns that translate into better performance across all sports while building lifelong habits of fitness, teamwork, and confidence. The curriculum emphasizes fun, age-appropriate training that keeps kids engaged while safely introducing them to athletic development.
The Impact Coach Model solves these issues by embedding coaches into the school environment before practice ever begins.
Impact Coaches are:
Visible during school hours
Consistent mentors for students
Reinforcers of school expectations
Leaders during after-school sports programming
This model creates continuity, trust, and accountability.
Many elementary schools in North Carolina:
Do not offer organized team sports
Lack consistent adult mentorship outside of classroom teachers
Experience behavior challenges during recess and after school
Have limited staffing for enrichment and supervision
Face equity gaps in access to extracurricular opportunities
After-school sports programs often fail because coaches:
Only appear after dismissal
Lack relationships with students
Goals & Outcomes
By the end of this program, participants will:
Improve speed mechanics (running form, stride length, stride frequency).
